I was approached by director and kettlebell exercise enthusiast John Shackleton to create a series of promotional web videos for Bristol based personal trainer Jon Clayton. Having shot 10+ hours of footage over 12 weeks, John was looking for fresh eyes on the project, so he gave me all of the footage and a brief, but then more or less left me to my own devices. Finding a narrative through-line amongst the hours of interview footage was an interesting challenge, but I soon found myself sucked into the lives of the three main characters and their struggles as they attempted to get healthy.
I ended up creating three 10-15min episodes for the web, but the client was so pleased with the result he then approached Bristol TV to ask if they’d be interested in airing it. They confirmed that they would, and I was asked to re-format the episodes for TV. I then added some new scenes and expanded the episodes to two 2-part episodes of 22mins each. These were then aired on Bristol TV and other regional channels.
